The Periphery
The image was originally conceived back in 2006 in a work I did at uni, it was on cardboard and something that came from my experience in the world of being on the fringe, the periphery of society.
A Sociological theory of the status quo being the centre and anything ‘Other’ was pushed or kept in the margins.
A few different shapes make it through the maze of systems, rules, laws, ways of being.
Can they hold their shape, colour and form?
Their individual perspectives on the world from their lived experience?
Or is the pressure so strong they have to become greater, staying strong in who they are or merge in to survive.
I looked at sub cultures as a young Anthropology student. How some are so pleased to be different and separate devising their own rules and regulations, thinking they are so very different.
little do they know they are another pod replicating the main, pushing and gatekeeping ‘otherness’.
Eventually many sub cultures become watered down, picked up by the market, becoming an aspect of the centre. This can be a great possibility for understanding of the Other, and it can be a loss of the significance of the fringe meaning making and knowing. The taking of the significant sign and symbol of the fringe takes the power of the ritual item away.
Yes! there are all the shades of dancing together that fill the spectrum in between these perspectives as well, but not for todays pondering.
I allude to the acquisition or cultural appropriation for fashion and arts, to make a personal statement, it looks cool, you would rather be that, or you may not have much idea of your own history and rituals due to the squander of history, land wars, things like repression of language, religions, beliefs, arts etc of many peoples.
The lost populations.
We gathered at the Periphery surviving on the crumbs of the centre.

She is here
that strong sensual presence
whispering, speaking softly
enticing me to dance
to move and flow
she had left, allowing the work
waiting to see, waiting for me
Psalm reminded me today,
this journey is like licking honey from a razor.
living on the edge 
such sweet pain
If the blade is sharp one barely feels it
The sweetness of life, accessing all senses
to gain entry to the point of all and No Thing.
A mentor told me the journey is messy, 
those teachers clean and unscathed, 
well think for the hills he said.
For those who are scarred, bloodied and torn have indeed walked the path.
This gives solace as the blood drips from the wounds,
climbing to heights and having to anchor in the depths.
I know the light well,
the dark spectrum, through the colour and whites
venturing all terrain like a forward scout, 
clearing the way and mapping the inner landscapes
She carries me well, time to time she must rest, adjust to our union.
She knows the importance, recover, sleep, be in the world but not of it.
Times of gateway openings burst and catapult us into the magenta and beyond.
She knows, she knows
Allow, surrender, and float when weary
She has learnt that to splash around, and try to control is certain drowning.

The black light most intrigues me.

Doing research in sensory perception today in relation to black light and the correlation to magnetism (magnetoreception) and direction.

My knowing has been hearing and seeing magnetic information like grids and the magnetosphere shifts. Working in the back ground on the North Sense research project a project centred on human magnetoreception (https://cyborgnest.net/) was where I saw my experiences of energy as information. It filled gaps in knowledge of general human sense of sight. I am able to ask questions based on the unseen invisible world - what physics talks of and I see, hear, sense, taste, smell, feel and know. The creative work is my attempt to make visible and share the possibility of evolving systems to their full potential, accessing dormant abilities.

Why am I telling you this?

Well today the energy compelled the deeper understanding of an aspect of the experiencing - (Completed first crude viewing experiment - I saw more south and less north! Pattern and colour did adjust as I moved directionally, so worth more investigation. I was not documenting sound today, however I will do separate experiment/discovery sessions for sound..). 

So far in my crude experiment I see the opposite of what one may hypothesise regarding Magnetroception and the black light and energy formations.

I saw most in the South rather than North- There is a long list of why, that as I continue on will be looked at and all possible variants covered. However for now how birds and other animals perceive direction and magnetic grids has many similarities to how I experience the world.

Why? Complex reasons the simplest is the evolution of the energetic systems. Building Magnetic force. Magnetite and how this activates when higher centres resonate-vibrate at same frequencies. The time/space is collapsed at the mid head (brow, ajna,) the pineal- pituitary -hypothalamus (triple Axis) resonance for next access to more sound waves.

How Birds See North

Birds can see the magnetic field of the Earth, visually sensing magnetic North using Cryptochrome proteins in their eyes (a sense called magnetoreception), proteins that are also found in human eyes yet somehow are not cognitively processed by the brain.
